HAIR LOSS
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) for Hair Loss
We proudly offer Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) treatment for hair loss provided by our board-certified Dermatologists. PRP is a cutting-edge, non-surgical treatment that uses your own blood plasma to promote hair growth and reverse hair loss. This innovative treatment has been extensively researched and is a safe and effective solution for those suffering from hair loss.
At Unify, our Dermatologists are highly trained and experienced in PRP treatment for hair loss. They use the latest techniques and equipment to ensure that every patient receives the highest quality of care. During the PRP treatment, a small sample of the patient's blood is drawn and processed to concentrate the platelets. This concentrated plasma is then injected into the scalp, providing the necessary growth factors to promote hair growth and reverse hair loss.
Numerous scientific studies have shown the effectiveness of PRP for hair loss. A meta-analysis published in the Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology in 2018 found that PRP treatment led to significant improvements in hair density, thickness, and overall hair growth (1). In another recent meta-analysis, PRP was more effective than Minoxidil (Rogaine) in treating male pattern hair loss with an increased benefit when using both treatments (2). Additionally, a randomized controlled trial published in the Journal of Dermatological Treatment in 2020 found that PRP was more effective than placebo in promoting hair growth and reducing hair loss (3).
At Unify, we understand the impact that hair loss can have on one's confidence and self-esteem. We are dedicated to providing our patients with the best care and treatment options. Our team of expert Dermatologists will work with you to determine if PRP is the right solution for your hair loss and will guide you through every step of the process. Typically our Dermatologists recommend 3-5 treatments before evaluating efficacy and suggesting further treatment.

Mesotherapy for Hair Loss
We are also pleased to offer Mesotherapy for Hair Loss, an advanced, non-surgical treatment performed by our board-certified Dermatologists at Unify Health. Mesotherapy is a minimally invasive procedure that involves microinjections of vitamins, minerals, peptides, and other active ingredients directly into the scalp to nourish and stimulate hair follicles, slow hair loss, and promote regrowth.
This technique targets the underlying causes of hair thinning—poor circulation, inflammation, and follicular shrinkage—by delivering essential nutrients precisely where they are needed. Mesotherapy has gained popularity as an effective adjunct or alternative to other hair restoration therapies, including PRP and topical treatments.
At Unify, our Dermatology team brings expertise in both medical and aesthetic treatments for hair loss. Using fine micro-needles and state-of-the-art delivery systems, the mesotherapy solution is injected into the mesodermal layer of the scalp, revitalizing the hair follicle environment and enhancing hair density and strength over time. Treatments are performed in a sterile, comfortable setting by our trained medical professionals.
Clinical research supports the use of mesotherapy in managing androgenetic alopecia and telogen effluvium. A study published in the International Journal of Trichology in 2019 found that mesotherapy led to statistically significant improvements in hair density and patient satisfaction over 6 months of treatment (1). Another 2021 randomized trial in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology found that mesotherapy containing biomimetic peptides and vitamins yielded superior results compared to placebo in women with diffuse hair loss (2).
Our Dermatologists typically recommend a series of 4–6 sessions spaced 2–4 weeks apart, followed by maintenance sessions every 3–6 months. The treatment is well-tolerated, with minimal downtime and a favorable safety profile.
If you are experiencing early signs of hair loss or looking for a non-surgical, revitalizing treatment option, Mesotherapy at Unify Clinic may be an ideal choice. Contact us at booking@unifyhealth.ca to schedule a comprehensive consultation with one of our expert Dermatologists.

Choosing Between PRP and Mesotherapy for Hair Loss
Both Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) and Mesotherapy are safe, non-surgical treatments that target hair loss by revitalizing hair follicles and promoting regrowth. While they share a similar goal, the mechanisms, substances used, and evidence supporting each treatment differ—making a consultation with a trained Dermatologist essential to choosing the right option for you.
PRP uses a concentration of your own blood platelets, which are rich in growth factors that stimulate the hair follicle’s regenerative processes. This makes PRP particularly effective in early-to-moderate androgenetic alopecia (male or female pattern hair loss). Meta-analyses and randomized controlled trials have consistently shown that PRP leads to measurable improvements in hair density, hair thickness, and reduced shedding, with some studies demonstrating superiority over Minoxidil (1,2,3).
Mesotherapy, on the other hand, introduces a customized blend of vitamins, amino acids, and biomimetic peptides directly into the scalp. It is often better suited for patients with diffuse hair loss, telogen effluvium, or those seeking a gentler approach with a lower upfront cost per session. Studies have shown that mesotherapy can improve hair density and reduce hair fall when performed consistently (4,5).
Key considerations include:
Type and cause of hair loss (e.g., androgenetic vs. diffuse)
Previous treatments tried
Pain tolerance and comfort with needles
Budget and number of sessions preferred
Overall scalp and hair health
While patient preference and comfort matter, it is important to recognize that only a board-certified Dermatologist can accurately assess your scalp, diagnose the type of hair loss, and recommend the most effective treatment based on current evidence and clinical judgment.
